#076, Jubilee

I am putting #076, Jubilee on the market for $67,000 USD.

She is an center cockpit mk1 Corbin 39 ketch with the taller double spreader mast and bowsprit and bobstay, hull number #076. We were considering another circumnavigation before being overcome by life events so she is still very seaworthy.

Jubilee is on a mooring in Grenada having spent 7 months on the hard in Carriacou. She has been in Grenada for 3 years after we completed our first circumnavigation with her. Jubilee was repowered with a Beta 60 in Gibraltar in 2020.

I have lived aboard Jubilee for 30 years the last 20 years or so slowly doing a circumnavigation. As with all Corbin 39 boats she is a strongly built cruising boat which has carried me through hurricanes and tsunamis around the world. Sadly she did not prevent me from cancer and this is the reason I am considering the sale.

After the 7 month yard period we took Jubilee on a shakedown cruise from Carriacou to Bequia a distance of about 30 miles in winds up to 40 knots and the boat performed well going to windward with SOG of 7+kn like she was missing the sea.

Jubilee has sat for a couple of years and while seaworthy does need some TLC to get her back to the standard maintained over her lifetime thus far.

Masts are a Cinkel double spreader rig for the main mast and similar single spreader for the mizzen. Lazy jacks contain the sails for furling. Spinnaker pole is mounted on an integral track on the main with a spare adjustable forespar pole on deck. The boat was re-rigged in 2016 using 3/8 wire from sailing services of Florida. Chainplates were removed, inspected and replaced at the same time. The original chainplates had been replaced in 2000. Harken roller furling on the Jib and hanked on staysail.

Ground tackle is as follows,
120 ft of 5/16 hi-test chain with an additional 300 ft of ¾ double braid on the main anchor which is a 45# CQR.
An additional 45#CQR is on the other anchor roller

While on the mooring in Grenada the back hatch leaked around the plexiglass causing damage to the overhead. This was not noticed by the caretaker and has since been replaced with 6mm marine ply and new vinyl covering. There are a few places throughout where the vinyl needs to be replaced and there is a stock of this on board.

The boat interior was built with ¾ marine ply covered with book matched teak veneer. The sole is ¾ marine ply covered with ⅜ teak strips with ash accent. I tended to overbuild so the rigging is oversized and some places I used ¾ ply when a smaller size would have been adequate.

When the boat was first built the hull was professionally faired to remove all the ripples from the molding process. Subsequent awlgrip painting gave it a fine luster. It was last painted in the Philippines and Thailand 8 years ago. The paint is in generally good condition but I would repaint in a couple of years if I kept her.

The mooring in Grenada is in a protected bay. I put down the mooring and only pay a caretaker. This mooring would pass to the caretaker if Jubilee was taken from Grenada but she could stay on this mooring otherwise. I am selling her only because after many years of pleasure it saddens me to see her not moving and not getting daily care.

All food except some can goods and condiments have been removed but Grenada has several supermarkets with food from the USA and Europe as well as local. Many spares from my cruising and circumnavigation are left on board as well as tools and navigation equipment.
